Nitrous Question?

Post by gsrauto98 »

I am looking to buy a nitrous kit and I am wondering if I should get a dry system or wet? Also what size jet should I use?

Get a wet kit. . . without a doubt! If you hook it up properly the zex kit is very reliable and safe. To run the kit safely I would suggest a msd digital rpm box, blow-down tube, bottle warmer and a pressure guage.

Wet kits are safer b/c its mixing with the right amount of fuel. Dry, you are just shooting it in the intake.

WETTER IS BETTER!! lol

Not always true. A wet kit on a stock LS1 manifold will cause a nitrous backfire due to pooling.

For 4 cyl honda applications a wet kit is your best bet. You can run a wet 75 shot safely on stock internals(might need a new clutch). 50 dry shot and a 100 direct port wet. I have seen people push 75 dry and 100 wet, but its risky.

If you go with the zex wet kit there are a few additional parts I would recommend.

Strongly recommend:
Bottle heater
Blow down tube
MSD window switch
Fuel pressure gauge

Helpful:
Remote bottle opener
remote mounted nitrous pressure gauge
O2 cut off switch
fuel pressure cut off switch

There is alot more that can go into a well set up nitrous setup, but the basic kit will get you up and running.

I had a wet kit on my focus for awile and it was perfectly safe. If you did a dry kit(which would be dumb) you would need new injectors to compensate for the added nitrous. But with a wet kit the fuel mixes in with the nitrous according to the jet you have in the nozzle. Just dont get over greedy and run more than is safe for your set up. Anymore than a 50 shot I would suggest a tune to pull timing.(well at least thats how I've run it on previous cars)
