Exhaust sounds hollow

Post by B16aRS »

I have a B16a with a stock header a magnaflow carsound cat and a apexi WS2 with custom 2inch piping all the way back. My exhaust sounds hollow and crappy after 4000 RPMs. Does anyone know how i can make it sound not hollow? It sounds disgusting in Vtec.

Get rid of that "cat" and put your OEM one back on.

Troof. The "cat" is really just a test pipe and the source of your raspy exhaust tone.

I would put the stock one back on but it was clogged so i tossed it. SO far i have gone through a test pipe, a OBX test pipe thingy(it was a weird design), a OBD1 cat, and now this. Once i put this back on i got a lot of the power i have been missing lately. It was probably cause with 1 O2 sensor i was running rich being a OBD2 car. haha IS there anything else i can do other than buying a OEM cat. My parents will flip if i buy another cat. LOL Thanks for the quick responses and help.

you could try another resonator or two, but that "high flow cat" is whats making your exhaust sound like that.

ok so i went to an exhaust shop today and it turns out that i dont have a resonator. it looked like one though. SO instead of getting a resonator i got 2 magnaflow glass packs and a stainless steel tip. It sounds deep and meaty.
The place is called Freds automotive. It is out in wentzville, they do amazing work and have extremely fair prices. there phone number is 16366391446

You got rid of a WS2 for magnaflow glasspacks?

I would do it...honestly glasspacks with the right muffler sounds pretty damn hawt.I can believe its pretty deep and mean sounding due to the fact that before part of my old da exhaust rusted out, one shit glasspack going to autozone looking muffler that came on the car sounded really good.Vid pl0x
