Beefin' up the b16.

Post by chunney »

So I picked up a few parts from JHPUSA... Skunk 2 pro series intake mani, hondata thermal gasket, skunk2 carbon composite fuel rail, and my 'oh so leet' billet oil cap. Holla.... I don't plan on getting any hp gains from the mani and such without head work so, anyways. I'm sending one of my 3 b16 heads off to get redone, ported, polished, everything installed so I can have it all done and ready to bolt onto the B16A in my hatch but I have a few questions.

First off and partially unrelated; what size throttlebody should i get? The plenum oh this intake is a 64mm so I figured I would just order one of the same size OR should I order larger than a 64? Will i need to have the plenum opened up more?

Secondly; Who will do head work like this? I want to send my head and new valvetrain in, with stock valvetrain in the head, and have it sent back to me brand spankin' new with all of the new bits installed.

The head is off of a 99' Si, I believe my hatch has the JDM SiRI B16A. Is it direct bolt on or will I run into any problems?

And lastly, as far as valvetrain... I'm wanting to keep the bottom end stock, for now, and I was planning on getting all skunk2; stage2+ cams, titanium retainers, dual valve springs, and the high compression valves / supertech valve guides. Would this be a decent setup? Don't know what I'm getting myself into. If you could help me out so I don't waste my money, I'd really appreciate it. Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance.

Oh, and a pic. Crappy quality, but you already know what they look like lol.

you are doing all that and not changing the bottom end? waste, if you are going to do something...do it right the first time rather than blowing up 10 motors then figuring out what you should have done.

I can rebuild the bottom end. Just not on the motor that's in my car. If I'm going to do that then I'll have to find another block.

What he is also trying to say, is that if your not upping your compression, your not going to make use of any bigger cam than the tuner stage one.

correct me if im wrong (since i dont have a b series at the moment), but your 99 SI head will bolt up perfect, but you will have to do some wiring things (your motor is obd0 and the head is obd2)

wrong. It bolts up and there is no wiring necessary
