timing

Post by mofkntep »

so my civic slipped out of time a little bit back... it will crank and turn for about two to five seconds then just die. now I need to get it back into the correct time & I cannot find the notches (even after rigorous cleaning to find them) ... suggestions? help?

thanks!

not kidding.

stock d15b7 with 215k miles on it. it was very poorly maintained by the previous owners.

at first when it started slipping I thought it was my tranny but I was still able to shift ... it only slipped between 2300-3700 and when it did, it would jerk and pull the entire car. I managed to get home from arnold and then once I parked it, it stopped running all together.

hope you are putting a new timing belt on it....

there should be 2 small marks (lines) on the cam gear that should be parallel (horizontal) with the top of the head. and i think timing mark for the crank gear is on the balancer/pulley, and needs be checked with the timing cover on and put at TDC.
