H22a VS. B18A1
Thanks everyone so far. My original plan was fully built h22a sleeved and turbo, not planning on doing it soon but am saving up a large budget to do it all at once. I was shooting to save $12,000 before i get cracking on it (hopefully this spring) I've always wanted to go h22a just because its the "big block" of little hondas. Only reason i started questioning it was because I noticed some of you and some others i know pushing turbo on b16s and b18s producing some fun result. At this point i'm still planning the sleeved h22a.99BlackHatch;132145 wrote:You need to tell us more info and detials that you have currently supplied us with...
what is your budget?
How much power are you looking to make?
Built motor or stock motor?

you can virtually make as much power on any of the platforms as one could considerably desire however choosing which platform to build with a high budget like that is personal preference for the most part', if your saving that kinda loot to build a bad ass set-up then id say just go with the h swap', it"ll be ridiculous in the end', not saying that kinda power cant be made on a b swap or a d swap for that matter but hell, if you have the money to do it, might as well start big

the best part about doing a very high horsepower engine in a honda is the fact that you wont get traction and you will run slower times than you would with less money into the engine and more into the suspension.

Much of what everybody here is very true. An H22A SOL would be sick! I would like to see such a build. However, i would run NA with it unless you sleave the block. H22A's use FRM sleves and they burn up piston rings after a while and much faster with boost. If you go the H route, traction WILL be an issue. To remedy that, an LSD transmission as well as a traction bar (dont know if one is made for the del sol, but im shure they are) must be purchased.
the most logical swap would be a B-series of your choice.
