to take this further, my personal sequence is 30-55-80 then 80 again. it used to be 70 till the lastest ones from arp say 80.rickles8099;130111 wrote:actually theres a second step in there before the 70-80lbs. i know on sohc engines most of the torque specs are 1st step ~29ft/lbs, 2nd step ~48ft/lbs, 3rd step ~48ft/lbs, and then fourth step of ~48ft/lbs again.
when putting on head studs i do steps 1-3 and then my add my own step of the 70ft/lbs and add a 5th step of 70ft/lbs again.
oh and the most important things of all..... clean the gasket surfaces so that you can eat off of them AND follow the torque spec sequence found in any haynes, chiltons, alldata manuals.

You have to re-read it. From the factory manual it says torque all to 22 ft. lbs. Then turn each bolt 90* for the second step. Then another 90* for the third step. Any car manufacturer would be out of their minds to torque a head on only 22 ft lbs.slammeds2k;130143 wrote:Ya i now its 80 now but the honda tork is only "22lbs weak" I just ordered a cometic and im gunna tork at 80 thanks

Ya it was a pretty dumb move by me. I tore it down last night to reveal that i was leaking oil from every edge of the head. That is why you read the instructions kids!!!:violent1:. Anyways I get my cometic from Adrenaline Monday so depending on what time they recieve it Ill either have it running by monday night or tuesday morning. Thanks for your help!
