Boost spike?
Good news is that my a/f looked ok and no knocking, so hopefully no damage.

A good tuner will interpolate upwards from your current boost levels to the max that the ECU can deal with. That way if your tuned to 7 lbs and you spike up to 12 lbs your still somewhat safe. While not a perfect tune, it's better tha just flatlining the fuel and timing maps at the last tested point.:thumbup:SPoole;126105 wrote:Good news is that my a/f looked ok and no knocking, so hopefully no damage.

So I guess the good tuner you are refering to is you, haha.
Thanks for all your help John, the car is running great and I am up to 26mpg. I am switching to a more user friendly system, I should be ordering my ECTune kit tonight or tomorrow since I have to ship my Power FC to its new owner in the morning so that means my poor car is down again.

Thanks Shawn, yes it's one of the things I do to every tune. Getting retuned after increasing boost is always a good idea, but the cars that I do should be safe anyway. Always a good idea to check though!SPoole;126185 wrote:So I guess the good tuner you are refering to is you, haha.

As you know from being there, a good tune is not just making full throttle pulls. We spent a couple hours doing idle, driveability, and steady state tuning, then made about 3 full throttle pulls to finish up. WOT tuning is the easy part!
I have not used the ECTune software yet but it looks allmost identical to Crome Pro. Is it worth the money? A quick look at the website didn't show me anything I can't do with Crome. Anybody???

Ive had some looks at 5thgen's setup, and it looks like a great program to me. However I dont have much experience with any others. He said his initial tune only took 4hrs, and the driveability is excelent.

Nevermind the cost question, I just checked it out. All together with program and hardware its only about $30 more than Chrome.
