How do I identify my turbo other than pulling it apart and measuring? I have looked around my turbo and here is all the external markings I can find.
Exhaust housing:
GARRETT
M1 63
2
1904
Compressor housing:
AR 60
M24 L
These are all cast numbers, I cant see an ID tag or any stamped numbers.
Any ideas?

What tells you that it is a 57 trim? And also in terms of size how large/ small is this turbo?

You can't know that unless you know that m1 / m24 is a certain wheel, etc.
You have to either find the wheel measurements online, or just measure them next time you have the turbo off.

So if I did take it off and measure, what exactly am I measuring? Is it overall wheel diameter?

You'd measure big side of the wheel, and small side of the wheel......do some math and you'll get trim.
If you measure them you can find a comparable turbo and look up a compressor map if you needed/wanted to.

Got it.
I do need to address a few small exhaust leaks( flange, and wastegate) so it may happen in the near future.
