I agree with Chris, Rob, and Richie... They have done a lot of research. I know Richie has spent a lot of time with his Type R, which I wanna run sometime buddy, but all in all SlickWhite, if the dyno sheets and the proven facts are printed numerous times on H-T and on other sites, well then it is pretty much trying to swim upstream.

A losing battle.
I'm still a neighborhood ASSHOLE!

I just figured i would go for internals since like a DC header and greddy exhaust won't add much for HP?? i kno a race header will but i don't think i'm down to deal with that hassle of trying to trick the emissions testing and what not. and is hondata still a decent ecu? about a year ago i was looking at a Hondata s200. and i'm lookin to get the most bang for my buck (~1500-2000). But don't wanna just slap some shit on there to get some great power for like a week. trying to do it right and keep the acura reliability.
it all depends on what your goals are and how much you are looking to spend, it sounds like your not fully commited to all motor but you want some simple power adders to make it scoot a bit faster, with that said here are a few upgrades id reccomend as best bang for the buck...in my opinion'

profab header- cheaper than smsp, made great power over the jdm header i had prior and dosnt break the bank, im not sure what your talking about for the emission thing, what do you mean..trick the emissions? Ive never had a problem passing emissions with my car, its always had a solid tune and ran great....i dont think you should have any issues if its tuned properly', smsp or hytech are awsome headers but also cost 1k+. Prohab is a cheaper alternative with performance gains'.

intake- aem w/bpi velocity stack, or 3" short ram with bpi velocity stack

exhaust- anything 2.5", would reccomend something stainless steel, muffler is personal preference, i love tanabe and greddy'

fuel management- s200 is ok, its what i have now but your tuners in this area are very limited, and by that i mean your stuck with having adrenline tune it....you'd be lucky if your motor made it out alive after 1 of there tunes therefore i reccomend ecutune, or even chrome or something along those lines, something any tuner could have access to the software for tuning

clutch- who cares, not needed unless your current went bunk, my stocker is still holding up to 200whp weekend abuse

Still want more power after that without breaking the bank or building the motor? Id suggest going with a nice 75-100 direct port nitrous shot. It would certainly get it moving a bit and be the cheapest power adder possible, if set-up and tuned right you shouldnt have any issues. There really isnt a cheap way to make a honda fast and reliable, you can go all motor, spend more than you would on a turbo set-up and be capped and probably dissapointed, or build a turbo set-up for the stock motor, have it tuned for a solid 250whp and enjoy it....when the motor pops throw in some stronger rods and low comp pistons, have it retuned for a nice solid 300whp and enjoy it'

I've used uberdata and crome....ectune is just so far ahead of the other (cheaper) rom editors.

I am retuning my car on this program....there is so much you can do with it.

hmm i remember reading about ecutune a long time ago before it was releated, hadnt read anything about it send then, but ill have to take a look at it later, gonna have to ditch my s200 anyways, just no tuners in the area for it'

thanks for the heads up

It is not too hard. I've spent a total of maybe 4 hours messing around with it (about 2 on the car) and I am over halfway done.

The best part is the r&d on this program happens daily it seems.

Thanks Digital for that short list there... but my original plan for the summer was a small turbo and to put down about 200whp. But since my recent stupidity of a 95mph ticket idk how hard thats gonna hit me and was planning to have like 3-4k saved to drop on the turbo. but as an alternative for paying the ticket and just coming up short of my goal. i was looking for some cheaper power adders. and i'm not really the kind for NOS just cuz the fact that once i tried it i would have that button smashed all the time since i redline.... all the time lol

so normal bolt ons sounds like a good place to start and then ecu for new retune .
thanks for the input guys

oh and even though he maybe the editor of this website or whatever... but Rick is who i was planning to do the turbo work for me. Any of you guys ever had him do work for you? He seems to know his stuff but then again i don't know many motor heads so can't really compare. Also with enough shopping around and bargaining... think a small turbo upgrade (ecu/manifold/piping/intercooler....etc) is doable at the like $2k mark? Rick seemed to think so and i believe him, was still planning to drop about 3k though anyway for more power maybe :evil4:

it can be done for 2k, but eventually you"ll probably end up upgrading most the parts off of it, i would at least put some $ into a nice turbo manifold that will support your future goals/plans, that way at least theres 1 major piece you wont be replacing down the road, i mean you get what you pay for, there are plenty of people that put together junkyard kits for cheap but they are much more finiky considering your buying all used parts which will eventually lead to issues here and there, obviously if moneys tight you simply cant buy everything brand new but id definately shop around, in my opinion turbo'ing a car isnt something you constantly want to be upgrading, pick your set-up and goals, and put your kit together right the first time so your not replacing parts and constantly fixing it'

just my 2 cents'
