Bigger/ported throttle bodies
I have heard both ways that they help and they harm your motor, if you dont have certain mods before hand?

I dont see how they could harm, but without supporting mods and a tune your not going to see any major gains.

Well not so much harm but lower your performance and cause the vehical to run richer then usual.

i am sure you ment LEANER right ... because a larger TB "should" allow more air to enter the intake manifold Thus making the A/ F mixture ALOT leaner.slammeds2k;121588 wrote:Well not so much harm but lower your performance and cause the vehical to run richer then usual.
BUT in reality you can only flow as much air as the smallest opening in your intake track AKA the Intake manifold opening ... so a 70mm TB on a stock manifold WILL not allow more airflow into the motor, so unless you upgrade both OR port match the IM to the TB this is a usless mod

the only thing i've ever noticed by installing the larger tb on a 'nearly stock' or stock motor is the change in throttle response. I think it's due to the fact that a lower throttle angle on a large tb is allowing as much air to flow as a wider throttle angle on a smaller tb. Just my observation and best educated guess. No big deal really, just makes driveability a little different at first, then you get used to it.
