long story.....
i stopped by my moms house this morning to get some stuff out of her garage when i saw a full 5gal gas can. me being a cheapskate figured "hey free half tank of gas" so i smelled it, it smelled like gas, im pretty sure it wasnt kerosene or deisel. anyway, i pour it in the accord. big mistake.
i get in the car, and start driving grinning ear to ear over my new found plunder. after i get about a half mile up the road my carstarts feeling sluggish, i take off from a stop sign accelerating and my car starts pinging louder than ive ever heard before. it litterally sounded like a tow chain falling on a sheet of plywood. well i let off the gas and the car dies. i start it, it sputters a few times, then i held down the throttle and it came to life. well i let it idle at around 1500-2000rpm for a while and it starts to clear up. i manage to make it the 6 mile drive home. i had to almost idle the whole way. if i gave it more than like 5%throttle it would start pinging really loud. well its out in the driveway now. i guess when the rain stops im gonna go siphon all my new treasure out of the gas tank and replace it with fresh amoco ultimate.
i just really hope there isnt any serious damage done.

good luck siphoning, a lot of newer cars have a baffle in the tank inlet that makes getting a hose in there a little "difficult" :PDT_fly:

That sucks, I think BFE is right, you have to drop the tank to really drain it

i think i could pull the hose off of the fuel rail, then hook another hose to it.
if that works i have another question,
if the key is in the "run" position does the fuel pump constantrly run?
i might just let the thing idle for a few hours (it idles o.k.). theres only about 3 gallons in it.
edit: i called my mom and asked her how old the gas was and she said "i havent put gas in a gas can in 5 years", if i was the one that bought the gas, its ATLEAST 3 years old, thats the last time i cut her grass.

most, if not all, hondas have a drain plug on the fuel tank...
no fuel pump does not run...with the key on, engine not running

you guys think that if i just throw in a bottle of HEET, and top it off with some premium that it'll be o.k., like, will the 10 gallons of good gas dillute the 3 gallons of bad gas, and kinda even it out?

no drain it. look for a drain plug on the bottom of the tank. 2nd option would be to hot wire the fuel pump so it stays on and drain it that way but you really shouldnt be operating a fuel pump under a 1/4 of a tank as it no longer has fuel surrounding the pump and can overheat.big pipe;117108 wrote:you guys think that if i just throw in a bottle of HEET, and top it off with some premium that it'll be o.k., like, will the 10 gallons of good gas dillute the 3 gallons of bad gas, and kinda even it out?
