o2 problem

Post by HardCore97 »

ok my check engine light came on it is showing code 41 which is primary oxygen sensor heater. my buddy told me it could be cuz i dont have a full exhaust but it goes most of the way back its just cut off after the resonator. but i found a gap where my header and test pipe meet and i was wondering if that could cause it. heres a pic of what i mean

one of the bolts vibrated loose and i put a new one but i cant get it to close up. would the gap there cause it to throw the CEL?

the heater in the o2 sensor has nothing to do with your exhaust.

youll need a new sensor. you could trick it into thinking the o2 heater is working. you dont have to have the o2 heater. its just there to get it quickly up to temp when cold starting the car.

could that gap there right by the o2 sensor mess with it and cause the car to run really rich? im only getting about 20 mpg and it sputters if i just give it a little gas but runs fine WOT. i need to get this figured out beforei go down to OK next weekend

like mike said just replace the oxygen sensor. as for that exhuast leak, get a new doughnut gasket and some spring bolts or else every bolt in your header is going to rattle loose. those springs give the exhaust a flex point that it really needs
