Motor Swap Into 92 Hatch

Post by sn95guy »

someone currently had swapped a 16 valve motor into my 92 cx hatch. the people i got it from didnt know much about the car. its a d15b7 i am pretty sure. the transmission is really geared out also. i am wondering how much a swap cost to get some more hp out of this car. its really slow and almost sounds like it has vtec up in the rpms and pulls harder but i dunno

d15b vtec is the ticket it has 130hp and it will bolt right up to your tranny and it is a nice motor to beat on that is if you wanna stay single came

ya my buddy had a b16 in his car, from like a 2000 si. his was a 91 hatch and had a really low geared tranny. this one seems really high geared. i kinda liked how it pulled not and not doing 60mph in 2nd

D15B7 is non-vtec for starters. so im guessing it still has a stock CX tranny because they have hella long gears.

spelling* lol

and you think you have one?

the JDM D15B VTEC is a good motor to start out with in my opinion as well, for what you want i suppose. pretty much the same as a D16Z6 except its 0.1 liter smaller and has a more aggressive cam than the z6, which is why it cranks out about 5 more HP.

i dont know if this is vtec or not, i put the new cluster in and at 4k it gets alot louder and pulls harder. but still isnt really fast. but under heavy throttle it doesnt kick on everytime. i do have a check engine light though. also it cuts out alot when i shift mostly into 3rd, car wants to like die, sputter then get going again. if i push the clutch and rev it it clears it up. liek to much fuel or something.

fixed

and i agree with the aforementioned above. swap in a d15b vtec, would probably be the easiest and most effective swap.

i say stay d series, do not get a d15b vtec engine. get a d16z6 or a d16y8 if you want vtec or get a d16y7 if you do not want vtec. the z6 and y8 are easier to get and you can get one cheaper and they have a lot more aftermarket parts for them.

how hard is this mini me swap? seems pretty simple. might have to start getting parts. but what will a hatch run with no power stearing or a/c, full exhaust and intake?

i have a Y7/Y8 mini me, with no a/c, p/s, intake, exhaust, no header yet, but its nothing compared to say a B18c or a mildly built B16 swap
