manifold problem...crazy high reving

Post by pearl4door »

ok guys and girls i just got done putting on my AEBS intake manifold and AEM fuel rail...i plugged everything up that was suppose to be, capped off the extra ports for vacuums and got the throttle body on with a new gasket correctly. now the problem is when i go to fire it up it immediately revs to 6k and fluxuates back and forth from 6 to 4 thousand rpms....i talked to one of my friends who is a honda tech and he thinks that i might not have gotten the old manifold gasket off and clean enough for the new one to seal....do you all have any ideas or suggestions. i have checked all of the vacuum hoses and they are all fine, i am almost wondering if i should take the manifold off again and just clean the hell out of it and put another new gasket and gasket sealer on it and just torque it down hella good. what do you all think cause i really need my car by this weekend.

Check for vacuum leaks, I understand you just put it on and got it all pluged off but the intake manifold gasket might not have set properly. If there was some sort of build up left on the intake side of the head then that will cause a vacuum leak.

Brake parts cleaner around the gaskets and on the vacuum lines, if it idles down and trys to chock out then there is a vacuum leak.

Check your sensors as well like on the tb and what not.

Also after putting a new intake gasket on if the car idles right let it warm up then cool back down and sorta re-snug the bolts cause heat expands metal and the bolts you thought was snug will actually loosen up a bit but be sure not to over tighten them cuase they break easy.

ok ill check all of that.....will it hurt anything if i would over spray with the brake cleaner and it would get into my engine? and i have all the sensors hooked up, that was the first thing that i checked for along with the vacuum hoses, so ill just take the manifold off and re-clean the surface.

Nope, It might make it run rough for a second, but its combustible.
