Suggestions on boosting an LS

Post by Dabeastwthn »

Ok guys and gals. I've had a few suggestions on here so far but here's the question to everyone. I'm staying nonvtec and I plan on slowly picking up used turbo parts piece by piece until I'm complete. What turbo, intercooler, manifold, etc... would be right for my Teg?

Well I figure start cheap to get it done and then over time just start upgrading things as they need it. Quality = $$$ I don't have to spare right now. :disgust:

Ebay might be your friend here. I would buy the actual turbo local, so you can check shaft play yourself. Do not get the SSautochrome or XSpower shit. Also remember, rick is very good at making hard lines for the oil feed. You might want to PM him about that.

I would like to know more about this too, except i plan on doing a LS/Vtec swap before boosting. I myself am looking for quality cause its going to be my daily driver for the next couple years. Any suggestions? (sorry about thread jacking, thought it would be wiser to have it in the same thread.)

inline pro is the best cast manifold out there. On a .57 trim t3/t4 you will hit about 14psi at 5000rpm.....10psi about 4500rpm. I have my old intercooler piping flanged for a type s bov that you can have really cheap.....otherwise I'll probably throw it out (the hot side is made for a top mount manifold....wouldn't be hard to modify to work with as long as the turbo compressor sits on the driver side).

starting cheap may result in blown motor. Ive seen cheap ebay turbos (no offense to anyone using these) fall apart and get sucked into the engine. Not pretty but if i were looking for a good kit there is a company called straight line specialties. there number is 7012822902. Of course the upgrades you have to make for the engine are minimal. headstuds, and rod bolts would be a must for a lasting engine. Hope all turns out great which ever way you decide to go.

www.straightlinespecialties.com

you will pay for good quality but in the long run you will enjoy your engine and it will be more reliable.
