TPS sensor

Post by hondaman »

I just replaced the TPS sensor (Bought 2/one from Andy JT and the other from Stephanie) on my factory throttle body in my '99 Civic SI, because the light had been staying on. The code was a very high number which the dealer told me the voltage was not correct for the TPS. I reset the ECU by unplugging the TPS and negative battery cable and waited 5 mins. before putting both on. Adjusted TPS position for smooth idle, but light still came back on, on 3 different tries. I am out of my mind trying to figure out why the check engine light keeps popping back on. All plugs are correctly hooked to the proper location, both TPS and MAP sensor. All 3 sensors can't be bad. Any suggestions?

you dont adjust the TPS by listening at how well it idles lol. you use a multimeter and tap the wires.

there isnt much to sensors and check engine lights.

TPS ----> wiring ----> ECU

if you replaced the tps with a known good working one and youre still getting a CEL for the tps then its either the wiring or the ecu. there's nothing else it could be.

Please LMK what the correct voltage should be for my application. I don't have a multi/voltmeter. I thought it was 4 volts, but I'm not sure. My code is P1122. TPS sensor higher than expected. Thanks

whats the CEL code? (when counting flashes)

tap 2 of the three wires on the tps, forget which colors they are but youll need to tap the + to + lead on the multimeter and negative to negative.

fully close 0.5V
WOT 4.5V
