d16 help

Post by slammed98ex »

First off I wanna say im new to the site and Hondas in general being I just bought my first one about a month ago. I know I have a d16y7 and was wondering if all y7s were vtec or not. The reason im asking is cuz it was a swap by the guy who owned the car before me and it doesn't say vtec on the valve cover. Like I said I could be way off base here being I know nothing about Hondas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

D16Y7 = non vtec
D16Y8 = vtec

put a Y8 head on your Y7 = D16Y8.

none of the valve covers had "vtec" on them for the 96-00 civic d-series motors.

I think the D16Y5 valve cover says vtec-e on it.. i may be mistaken or have it confused with the D15Z1 vtec-e valve cover
