After market temp

Ok,so my buddy broke my temp needle while messing with the cluster. So,I bought an Auto Zone cheapy set of 3. Well,the adapter they gave me in the kit was to big, all of them. So,back to AZ. They gave me the wrong one,plus its the only one they had small enough. So,where can I get this part,or how to I make what I got work? It's the one screwing into the block.
