every couple weeks, car has to be jumped?
im possibly trading the supra for a 3rd gen accord hatch. the guy says that "every once in a while(i'd say ever 2-3 weeks) the car just wont fire. but as soon as it is hooked up to jumpers, it fires right up." he said he had the battery, alternater, and diodes checked and they call came up fine, and thinks it might be a wire that got hot and is now bare and hits metal somewhere. what other possibilities would there be for why it would do that, and how hard of a fix would this be?

if theres no power coming from the battery, then as soon as the jumper cables hook up another battery to it and it starts right up the problem is the battery in the car, or possibly a loose cable connection to the battery. make sure all the cables are connected right then either buy a new battery $50-80 or keep a set of jumper cables in your trunk.
ive had batteries randomly go dead, then with one jump they work fine for another month or so, then die, get a jump, and be fine for another month..
ive also had autozone tell me my shit tested fine and it not work when i get home

there could be an intermittnet draw on the system. maybe a light stays on, fuel pump stays powered, or even ac compressor clutch engages itself. this could be a very tough diag, good luck!

make the guy buy a battery for it.... if it goes away, go for it. 3rd gen accords are hot, especially hatches. hows the rust?

theres some honda rust, but thats all i can see and thats all he says there is. theres like 300k on the body, and he doesnt know how many on the motor, could be the stock engine for all i know. its an auto too. i would think it would be the battery, but he claims he had it checked and it passed. he said he hooked it up to his dad's not-running van and it started right up. i just dont want to drive so far and then decide not to get the damn thing. or get it home and be fucked over like i was on the supraSpork;102493 wrote:make the guy buy a battery for it.... if it goes away, go for it. 3rd gen accords are hot, especially hatches. hows the rust?

Not many people know about this but check under the dash fuses and see if a fuse has popped. This happened to me before on my 99 civic ex and the battery was constantly dying on me. I couldn't figure out why so I checked the battery and changed alternator with knowingly good alternators (twice) but problem was still there. Then spoke to a very well known tech/import tuner and he said check the fuse under the dash (don't remember which one it was). So i checked that out and what do you know, i had a blown fuse. replaced that badboy and car was like toney the tiger..... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat. lol
