94 civic coupe, with motor problems

Post by 94civicoupe »

hey guys, there are times when the car doesn't want to accelerate anymore after i hit a water puddle or snow puddle, like yesterday, what happens is when i hit the gas, the car bogs and doesn't accelerate, the sound that it makes is like being in 5th gear and flooring it going only 20mph, my question is... is the air box trying to suck water in???

watch out for hydro-lock

if your running a cold air intake use an aem breather. Ive seen test were they stick the filter under water, and it doesnt suck up any water.

no, the car is complety stock right now, and it will do it right after a puddle, and the last time it did it, it drove like that for a good 2-3 miles before it let me give gas.

take the dizzy cap off and check for condensation let us know after that... i doubt it would be hydrolock on a completely stock airbox system unless you are going through the mother of all puddles

lol, ya the only thing is, when i put the stock air box and assembly back in, it went a little loose, and the splash guard that goes right under it has a big hole in it, right under the airbox assembly, but ya ill check the distrib. cap
