Well I was thinking about a catback but I didnt want somthing to loud all the time thats why I was going to do the cutout so that it was load when I wanted it and quiet for highway cruzing. Is there any afordable cat backs that are not to ricey that you can suggest. But even then I would probably be better off just putting the money into the suspension.Spork;98376 wrote:maybe not quite as pointless... but I still think it's silly. are you planning on putting an aftermarket exhaust on it anyway, or did you want to do a cutout and leave the factory exhaust on?

affordable and quiet are not exactly things that go together for these cars... you kinda have to pick one or the other... unless you find a used one, or spending like $450 is considered 'affordable'
i would say go with apexi worldsport2 or RSR exmag if you want something really quiet.

im running 2.5" piping, kteller resonator and 2.5" e-cut out, i only chose the cut-out because i have plans to eventually boost and i love the way it sounds when its open, car is pretty quiet with the tanabe muffler/kteller resonator with it closed but absolutely screams with it open
as far as power/tq lost with it open, on the dyno i ran it once open, once closed back to back, only lost 2whp with it open, 2tq, no noticible loss'

Have you had any problems with breaking or burning up valves because some people where saying that might be a problem with the cutout.Digital Sol;98596 wrote:im running 2.5" piping, kteller resonator and 2.5" e-cut out, i only chose the cut-out because i have plans to eventually boost and i love the way it sounds when its open, car is pretty quiet with the tanabe muffler/kteller resonator with it closed but absolutely screams with it open

How much HP can I exspect to gain from a catback like WS2 or Greddy SP2. Because if the gain is not much than I would rather do the cutout because its alot cheaper and that sound is amazing.bildo16;98498 wrote:just get Apexi WS II, find one used somewhere, honda-tech, team-integra.net, its very quiet, but sounds a little manlier(?)

you probably are NOT going to burn up valves with a cutout. normally people put the cutout right around where the cat would be in a test pipe, that far back you dont ahve to worry about burning any valves. dont do it. on a n/a car it is just senseless. you arent going to see any major gains with cat-back exhaust on your car either way. save up and buy a bottom end if you want to make a lot of power. start looking at traveling a N/A or Turbo path. start gathering stuff you need, and by the end of the summer, you should have enough stuff to get a dcent motor together.

to be honest there isnt any big hp in this cars near future at least until I graduate from UMR and get my s2k then I think it may get a small turbo. I can get a cutout installed for 275 so I dont think thats not much and for the sound it much better than a catback. I know its senseless and I will not see any gains from it but Im crazy like that.

i wouldnt reccomend running a cut-out unless its electronic or you plan on keeping it closed for daily driving, its far too loud to not have easy access to instantly close/open it, im sure it will sound differently on each set-up especially depending on the supporting modifications but its one of the single most fun additions to my car ive done to this day'
