funny engine noise....

i started my car today and its making some weird winding noise sounds like its coming from the belt side of the motor it whines louder when the rpms go up.....drives fine have no idea what the problem is?

its civic ex so it had the vtec d-series motor any suggestions?

maybe the altenator, a/c, or powersteering. maybe the waterpump/

damn would any of those be expensive to replace?

never replaced any such parts before

dont know how much it'll cost b/c i dont know whats exactly wrong. definately dont start throwing parts at it till its fixed. find whats broken or worn out first
