GSR OBD1 and OBD2 swap question

Post by UMR Racer »

So as many of you may know the 2001 GSR that I bought recently from Showdown Motorsports died and needs a new motor. The owner at Showdown agreed that if I bought a long block that he would put it in. The only problem is that hmotors only has OBD1 gsr motors and I would like to get a OBD2 motor because I dont want them to fuck it up because they are DSM guys. So does anyone know a good company that sells OBD2 JDM GSR motors or is the conversion easy enough for a retard to do.

I have no other options I dont have the money to have it done at slowmotion and the only offer that Showdown made is that they would do it. He wouldnt give me any money so that I could pay slowmotion to do it.

GSR OBD1 and OBD2 swap question

Hmm, when I was shopping on HMotors they asked me if I wanted OBD-1 or 2 when I ordered, so maybe they just don't have it on the site..Did you call them and ask?

And correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't you buy the OBD-1 Long block..keep all your OBD-2 accessories and swap the oil pumps between them and technically it'll still be an OBD-2 motor?..You'll just use the block and head from H-Motors...

generally spun bearings suggest oil flow problems, so I would suggest NOT reusing the oil pump... just my thoughts.

Well, he could buy another one for ease? ..When I've spun my bearing, cleaned out the shavings in the oil pump, reused it, and it ran fine. :dunno:

Edit: That was the pickup screen I cleaned.
