engine starting question

ok so i finally got everything working, fuel pump is going and im getting spark. but when i try to start it it will turn over and then sometimes it will stop and kinda kick backwards. the cam gears will move backwards a little bit. is it a timing problem or what? if i cant figure it out and get it started i guess its going on a trailer and to the shop in town. any ideas would be great.

i would think your ignition timing is way off......do you get any backfires out of the intake?

3where are u? ur timing is off, either cam timing or u got the wires wrong! where r u located?

dizzy plugs(looking from the pass. side of the car):

3-4
1-2

cylinders(looking at the motor from the front):

4-3-2-1


that is how the wires should run. check that

no backfires out the intake and i think the plug wires are on right i had my book up there and i thought i had them on right but il check that. oh and i live in owensville. bout an hour and fifteen minutes southwest of st louis
