You are going to need B mounts, shift linkage and tranny. it will be alot cheaper to swap in another D

i know its gonna be a pain in the ass to find another y5, so which would be my best bet, and would i have to change the wiring harness and the ecu?

probably a y8 with ECU...
or... you may be able to use your y5 head/ecu and just a y8 or y7 bottom end
that might be the cheapest option

with a factory ecu... probably neither. if you want gain, you should ditch the y5 head and ecu for a full y8 setup.

try searching... the y8 is actual vtec, not vtec-e like your motor. you will need the y8 computer to do that swap, and I do not know about what harness you need. you should be able to reuse yours, but you will need to do some searching to confirm/deny that.

why would you want to use a vtec ecu with an non-vtec motor?? as for tranny any b series hydraulic transmission would work. LS, GS-R, type-R, SI.
