lsvtec suggestions...

Post by DC_T »

I have kind of a wierd situation right now. i have an lsvtec motor i built about a year or so ago, (basically a b18a, 9:1 je pistons, eagle rods, new bearings/seals, b16 head, skunk valvetrain) going into my 93 hatch. it was boosted for a little while, but now i am switching back to n/a. i want to tear it apart and put higher compression pistons in there, but i don't have the time or money to do that right now, so i was just planning to run the 9:1 comp for now, until i have a chance to switch out the pistons. I also have a chipped p28 w/ s200 that i plan to run, and i have a set of rc370s to run w/ it.

so...on to the question. i'm wondering what the best set up would be to run right now while i'm waiting to upgrade. Would it be safe to run a set of stock 240 injectors w/ maybe a p28 or p72? or should i go ahead and drop the 370s in there and get it tuned on the hondata? the hondata seems to be the best way, but i'd hate to spend money to get it tuned when i plan to upgrade in the spring. anyone running an lsvtec on a stock ecu/injectors? what do you guys think? any suggestions?

go for it, with the low comp. its gonna be a dog anyway. if you got a decent map save your money for the good stuff later. the 240s SHOULD give enough fuel for 160-180 hp

well, the map on my hondata right now is set up for 550s and for boost. which 550s would be way too rich for this setup, and i no longer need the boost option turned on. i'm kinda wondering i guess, if i can run a stock ecu w/ this setup on the stock 240s for a little while until i can switch out the pistons and injectors and get it re-tuned.

if the hondata is setup for the 550s you should be able to use those no problem!(assuming you have a set)
they just wont be spraying much fuel. when you wer'nt in boost before will be exactly how the car runs now.(i hope that makes sense)

but that won't really work for the whole rpm range.... the engine was tuned under the theory that say... at 6000rpms at WOT, the car would have been in boost.

the only part that the map would work on would be the first couple thousand(?) rpms... before the turbo would have ever spooled up.
