Stupid question about engine

Ok this is probably a stupid question, as I am 99% sure I know the answer, however I am just making complete sure before I do anything. So here goes.

Will a D16Y8 mount up to my Y7 tranny and engine mounts, etc? I'm pretty sure it will, just making absolute sure before I do anything. Thank you,

Ok ty. Now, the Y8 being Vtec and the Y7 being non, will I need to swap the ECU? See, I should be getting a totalled car soon with a Y8 in it and am wanting to swap shit and just getting the facts before I do. Pretty sure I will need to swap my ECU for the Y8s correct? Will that just hook right up to my wiring harness or will I have to get an adapter?

i think if ya pm rickles on here. he can make your non vtec ecu a vtec one.. im not very familier with the honda ecu's anymore sorry

That'd be pretty cool. It'd probably be cheapter just to swap ECUs though, if possible, and I can't really have my car not running so I can't ship him my ECU or anything. Although we'll see I guess cause it'll probably be spring or summer before I actually swap, if I get the car. Thank you for your help.

ok if you have access to the whole car you should get the motor , tranny and ecu along with the engine harness, that way the swap will be plug and play plus the y8 tranny has better gearing then the y7.

BUT if the car your getting this y8 from is a automatic, your going to have to swap around a few parts and still need to have your ecu chipped to controll vtec.

so let us know if its a auto or manual car

Oh piss that's right I forgot about the auto/manual ECU shit..Damn. Well the car I am trying to get is an auto, mine is a stick.

sounds like you need to find a 5sp vtec ecu or like previously said, chip it. just send rick a pm and meet up with him. im sure he can get it done pretty fast.
