header to test pipe exhaust leak...

Post by jdmjerry07 »

i have a megan header and a invidia test pipe and they fit up ok but not perfect. were it meets, at the top there is a small gap because the header points slighty up were the test pipe is parallel. im thinking its because the header is not as qualitly as a dc header or a more expensive piece. my question is do u think a more quality made header would match up better with the quality test pipe. better parts better fit?

Yep. I had this same problem on my sedan when I tried to put a Megan header on. It fit like total crap. Assuming this is on your '99 Civic EX, the Megan header should use the exact same design as your stock 4-2-1 header. I'm running a stock 4-2-1 EX header w/ an OBX test pipe and I have no problems with exhaust leaks and fitment. I say put the stock one back on unless you want to spend a little bit of money on a nice header.

yea jerry, thats the problem we've all had with the megan headers. my B series one is fine, but it leaks be cause i broke a stud in the head. but yea, when i had the DC sports 4-2-1 header, it matched up perfect.

just because a part cost more does not meen it is better i have an egay header and it doesent leak. Do you have a gasket? idk cuz you dont have any pics but i would say use a thicker gasket.
so far behind im ahead of the pack.

its 4-2-1, and yes i have a gasket duh? do u have a test pipe? most the time buying a better quality part is gunna get u alot better product, actually pretty much everytime. you buy a spoon header vs. a megan header, its gunna perform better, fit better and take a beating more than mine i think most can agree on that there.
