93 honda EX coupe...REV problem when cold?

why do alot of these cars (including my dads) all REV really high when they are cold, over and over and over again, then finally smooth out.

its really annoying , especially in the morning when its warming up.

is it something to do with the throttle position sensor or what?

any advice/fix for this?

What RPM does it idle at when its cold and what RPM does it idle at when it warms up?

do you mean it surges? or just has a high idle?

i dont know, its my dads car, but it jumps from about normal idle to 2000 rpms, then back down. over and over. if starts out fast, then gets slower, untill it finally stops.

it surges. yah that would be a better way to explain. this is a common problem but i dont know how to fix it.

yah but last time i got it checked at the zone, they said it was a general code?!....

sounds like the standard FITV issue... I would assume thats never been adjusted on the car

Read this and go find out what the check engine light is on for. This will help you figure out what your problem is.
