most of the time when something interanlly goes wrong in the head, the head is junk. you can pick up a complete head for a few hundred bucks. search hard and youll find great things.

Caution I'm new to hondas: Is the compresion the same between B18b & B18c, I dont think so. If your planning on Vtec later then why not save and go B18c?

compression is only one factor, another difference in the LS block vs. the GSR block is the stroke; LS is 89mm and the GSR is 87.2mm, this means that an LS vtec motor will produce more torque than a gsr. the lower compression also makes the LS motors very good for boost (as Bill just stated above me). and a third perk is that LS blocks are the closest thing to 'dime-a-dozen' that you can get with b-series, so if you mess one up, you can buy a new one for a few hundred bucks (max.) and you are on your way again.

if you build either motor (gsr/lsvtec)....lsvtec will come out cheaper at the end anyway.
