Help!!! Please!!!

Post by 91gsrcivic »

Ok here's my problem. My car recently started spitting and sputtering when I give it any type of gas not everytime but most the time. I've replaced the injectors and fuel filter, about to replace the pump, and I've checked the timing. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks

No fuel pressure gauge, yes fuel is getting to the injectors. Ive thought about the dizzy but thats a bit much right now I'm trying to eliminate all the cheaper stuff first. Will check the relay here in a minute. Thanks. Any more suggestions?

you have an aftermarket dizzy cap? ever replaced the dizzy cap?
I had this problem with my old Y7, when I put the MSD distributor cap on it, I didn't pay attention and ended up with a little hole in the gasket that goes between the dizzy and the cap.
As a matter of fact, my car started having these same symptoms about this time last year. What happened was the dizzy was getting warm from being used and when the car sat it would get cold and the cycles of that created quite a bit of moisture condensation and I had a ton of corrosion in my cap.
The car misfired once in a while, but when you give it any gas at all it would just sputter like crazy. I even got my CEL to start flashing at me, but no codes.
Replaced the cap and everything was back to normal.
So what you do is unbolt the 3 philips bolts that hold the distributor cap on and check inside to make sure all the contacts are clear of any type of corrosion. If there is any corrosion, you can try to clean it off, or just buy a new cap. They should be about 15$ from O'Reily's.

I just replaced the cap and rotor about a week or 2 ago it didn't change anything. The only thing not replaced now in the fuel system is the fdr. My next step after that is a new MSD dizzy and full ignition, I guess.
