spark plug sleeve
so i just got the new radiator in the integra last night and i was driven the car today and all of a sudden i heard a tumping noise coming from the bay....so i pulled over and the plug and plug wire had poped out of the head. so i tryed to thread the plug back in and the sleeve seems to be stripped so it wont thread back in now. so im guessing ill have to pull the head and replace the sleeve or head now. any comments/options/opinions would be nice.

It can be fixed on the car, there are several products available the will give a permanent repair.

the sleeve that the plug goes into that reast in the cylinder housing. it's threads are stripped and you can't thread the plug into it. it's not grabbing anything.LowePerf;78060 wrote:What exactly do you mean? Pics?

could have been i just bought it. my guess though is it was loose..and the detnation in the cylinder (over time) caused it to work it's way out and strip the threads out as well. Also there was no gap aon the plug the points were touching when it came out (odd)Spork;78062 wrote:sounds like it was cross threaded...

honestly, i bet it was cross threaded at one point, and the threads were really messed up... its an aluminum head, it is very possible. Plus, if the plug wasn't gapped at all, it would have been grounded out and there wouldnt have been any firing on that cylinder... so no detonation or combustion to force a 'loose' spark plug out and strip the threads with it.
I don't know the specifics on the car, but if you just bought it and you got a pretty good deal on it, chances are the previous owner may have known there was an issue and wanted to get rid of the car to avoid dealing with it.

I don't know what John's solutions are.... but b18a parts are cheap and easy to come by, so my solution: "WTB: b18a cylinder head" or hit up a junkyard.

this car is supposed to be a daily while he builds his CRX... I would not recommend turning it into a project as well. once you split your cash into two projects neither one ends up as nice as it was supposed to be.
...even "just a vtec head" or "just lower it a little" is too much, and will spiral into a lot more.
