Slipping clutch

Post by Waffles »

I know this is not a Honda but its all the same type of system. So as of a few days ago my clutch would slip at random. It usually happened when holding speed then rolling into the throttle. It has happened when the clutch has been both hot and cold. I am not thinking its the actual clutch due to the random nature of it, and I don't think its the master cylinder because I would most likely feel that hanging up. So my thoughts were ether the line or the slave cylinder. I have bled the lines and saw no air, but I flushed the full system any way. That just leads me to think its my slave cylinder, what do you guys think?

its hard to really diagnose random problems like this, but i would say that if it were something else, it would affect your shifting more than anything. is your car leaking any fluids near the clutch?

it doesnt sound like your slave cylinder unless it is leaving fluid depending if its internal or an external slave, it could leak onto the clutch. has your fluid level droped any??? but thats the only way it could make a clutch slip. you could also have a tranny seal leaking or a main seal on the motor...how many miles are on this clutch???

I have not seen anything, but i will run it tonight then put some cardboard under it and see if anything is dripping.

I have not seen my clutch fluid or the oil drop, but I will be checking for drips tonight.

Ok, cardboard trick revieled that i am leaking nothing. As for the milage the car has just under 90,XXX and I dont know if the clutch had been replaced. I am almost positive it has, the clutch is to good for a 90,000 mile car. I will be replacing the slave soon since it is only $35 and if that does not work, i will buy the clutch and have a clutch party(soon to be followed by the timing belt party)

Is that an OEM slave cylinder for $35? If not, don't bother. AutoZone ones are flimsy pieces of garbage.
