94 Civic EX Timing Belt Replacment

Post by UMR Racer »

I have been hearing some noise from my belts and i was thinking that i should replace the timing belt because to my knowledge its old (150000miles). How hard is it to do myself having never done one before. Also is there any thing else i should do while I'm doing it ie water pump etc. Lastly do i need any special tools like a cam lock or can i do without and how much will all the parts cost.

This is my first post and i already think this forum is awesome.

I'd do a water pump along with the timing belt and inspect the P/S, A/C, and Alt. belts as well. If they're worn, I'd replace those too. Its pretty easy to do, the only hard part is getting the crank pulley off of the crankshaft. Just use a 1/2 inch impact and a 17mm impact socket and it should come off if your using a decent impact. A water pump is about $74, the timing belt is about $61, and the belts are like $11 a piece, all from Honda. Hope this helps.
