whats everybody using to control boost in their turbo applications, electonic or manual. What are some of the more "reliable" inexpensive boost controllers, eventually i want to get a electronic controller with different selectable settings.
examples of what i am thinking about getting for now:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Voodoo-I ... 4000QQrdZ1
but what about these?

thanks chris

that perrin thing is only the boost solenoid. you will still need the electronic part to control it. and that other electronic thing isnt really a boost controller either, it seems to be more of a toggle switch to go between two different preset boost settings.
normally a good electronic boost controller will run you about $200 and up.

well... if you are going to be running an internally wastegated turbo, i would just stick with the stock actuator setting. if you are going to be running external wastegate, i would get a .6 bar spring (8psi) and go with that. once you get your bigger turbo and an electronic controller, you can up it then.
i would recommend going with an external wastegate. they control boost better and allow for higher boost applications safer.
the apexi avcr is really nice, but theres not many people that know how to adjust them. ive heard theres a couple here in st louis, but i havent found them. only downsides to the avcr is that there is no wiring instructions on how to put them into a honda and that they have so many options that you need to setup to take full advantage of them. oh its also kinda pricey too. like $400 or so on ebay and $600 and up from vendors.
when i was reading into them, a lot of people were going with the profec because they arent too expensive, easy to install, and easy to adjust, but doesnt allow for some things like gear dependant boost settings like the avcr does.

this one looks like its the same thing as a turboxs dual stage boost controller... switch between two preset boost levels...
ive just got the regular one stage turboxs boost controller, and im running 14 psi as of right now, and ive had it at 16 psi on a race night... holds up well, and quickens the spool a tad... you will never be able to lower your boost levels lower than what your wastegate is set at though...
I miss my honda ;(

i dont think a 14b would be able to push more than 12-14 psi efficiently... those things are tiny, i used to have one. almost no spool time though lol.N2HIFI;50356 wrote:well for right now i have a 14b with internal wastegate, so i don't need a controller for now BUT exactly how much boost ill be running is up in the air because i have yet to get a 100% answer.

IHI RHB 5's are about the same size and I've seen one push 20+ psi. I know someone else will vouch for that too :biggrin:thsmrtone1;50361 wrote:i dont think a 14b would be able to push more than 12-14 psi efficiently... those things are tiny, i used to have one. almost no spool time though lol.
