Turbo car bucks.

Post by dclduke »

When my d16z6 turbo was running and I would take it past 6500 rpm it would buck, like it ran out of fuel or maxed out the turbo. It only did it in 4th or 5th gear. I was running a td04h(don't know which one) at 7psi, and stock fuel system with 310cc injectors. I also had a greddy blue box(i know, crap) which is all I could afford at the time.

I have just spent a crap load of money to get it going again(almost have everything, except fuel management) and I don't want this to happen again. Also, what is the difference between the chipping kits that xenocron offers?

Now I will have bigger injectors, fuel pump, and soon proper engine management. A friends capri turbo would do the same thing but nothing bad ever happened to his car. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.

when i first turboed my integra ls it did something kind of like this. I was running dsm 450s w/ Emanage and it hesitated at around 5500. I ended up swapping out the dsms for rc 370 and re-tuned and it took care of the problem. don't know if this has anything to do with yours, it was just my experience.

sounds like a fuel pressure issue, what are you running at under load?

Well, I would use bigger injectors then 310's. If your staying budget, get the DSM 450's. And don't use the E-Manage again, its crap. Personally, I recommmend Hondata for your EMS. I think the features(sp?) and ease of tunability in the St. Louis area is great for the midwest.

With the blue box it just dumped fuel whenever it saw boost. Don't know how though.

If it the system was dumping large amounts of fuel and wasn't seeing high enough boost to make things equal out then it was fuel spikeing. Was there a semi harsh smell of gas under a heavy load or anything?

I also agree with Rob's method.

No gas smell. And I would think that at high rpm too much gas would just get burned or passed through(Basically the problem would be at low rpm).

And I will be using 440cc injectors, bigger pump, and fpr. Ditching the Greddy crap and getting it tuned!
