How would I go about eliminating the speed governor in my 97 Civic LX sedan? Can I simply turn it off, or what do I have to do?
Thanks,
Chris

OBD1 is basically the operating system of the car, like windowes 98, XP etc. Your car being a OBD2 car the ecu tightly regulates the cars ability to be affected by mods, example on a OBD0 car a CAI could possibly gain a car as much as 10hp where as on a OBD2 car it would only gain you say 2 hp because the computer "sees" the changes in the airflow into the motor and makes fuel and timing adjustments accordingly thus limiting how much HP you can make with bolt ons and also limiting your ability to make changes to the ECU without seriously affecting the cars driveability and Check engine lights.
But if you use a conversion harness you can use a OBD1 ecu instead and OBD1 ecus are easily chipped to make eliminating the fuel cut and speed limiter possible plus chipping the ecu for tuning abilitys (you can have new fuel maps burned on to replacable chips in the ecu) makes it ALOT easier to tune the car and make HP.
you will find a ton more ino on the interweb if you google it but that should give you a rough idea on what it takes.

Ok cool thanks a lot. About how much would that cost do you think? That's prolly why my intake didn't do much then? I was wonderin cause I put in those spark plugs and a new filter for the high-flow intake (cause the other one was shit and got ran over) and my 0-60 didn't improve at all.

you got it, typically a OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness is about 50-75 shipped depending on where you get it, and the ecu will run you around 130-200 once again depending where you find it.
Look usally on www.ebay.com , www.rywire.com , www.streetlightz.com or just google.
and FYI rickles has a p28 which is the best obd1 ecu to have for sale for like 125.00
and installation is all plug and play for the most part

i sold the p28 last week. however i do have a p06 that can be converted to a p28.
also, for parts check out xenocron.com. he sells ecus, conversion harnesses, chip burners. basically everything you need and then some.

www.rywire.com also sells conversion harness, I think also 99blackhatch is selling a boomslang harness that goes from obd2 to obd1 for a pretty go price. Really if ya look its gonna cost about $100 to $130 for a p28 ecu and then $110 to $200 for your harness but in the end its worth it cause then you half way to a mini me swap later down the road.

Yeah I've been lookin into engine swaps and I don't really want a mini me swap. I want something more powerful. But I don't really want a B16 either, I want to be more unique than that. Is there anything more powerful than a B16 that would be more unique, a good swap for my car, and parts are kinda easy to find? Been wondering about K series engines, and V6 engines. Anyone got any ideas?
EDIT: The swap won't happen for a while as I do not have a job, but I am wanting to plan this ahead and know what I have to save for it.
EDIT: That being said, would it really be worth getting a different ECU right now, or should I just wait for the swap? I want to save as much money as possible, and that means not doing much to the factory motor and waiting until I get a different one. So if I got an OBD1 conversion, but then would have to get yet another ECU after the swap, I will just not do the conversion, and wait until I do the swap.
