Lowe Performance and the Whip Factory/SuperDave tunes Hondata. So does Adrenaline, but lets just forget that I mentioned them :jerk:shinigami;40266 wrote:Preludes do have balancing shafts, and i'm not knocking Hondata its just hard to find a person who will actually tune a hondata system.

OBDII is an emissions control system in all cars from 1997 and up. What it does is the computer (ecu [electronic control unit]) reads all of the sensors in the intake, exhaust, vtec solenoid [spool valve to be correct], knock sensors, etc etc, and it decides how much fuel to put into the motor judging by how much air is going in and out of the motor and how rich or lean it is burning. There are 3 OBD (on board diagnostic) systems on hondas.
OBD0 (no actual OBD) is for pretty much all cars 91 and prior, it has no true emission control sensors, and its mostly just there to pump the fuel injectors at the right time!
OBD1 is on all cars 92-96 (with the exception of when the model changes happened) This is the first true OBD system, it is considered to be the best to tune with because, it is chippable, it is simple to read, and you don't have to worry about scanners in the emissions control places!
OBD2 is in all cars from 1997 to present, it is generally not considered to be chippable (except for the K-pro), and has much tighter emissions controlls on it. To tune an OBD2 car you have to get some kind of piggyback or standalone management sytem.
And there is my early morning tech dump.
any other questions?
Thanks for the info.... very helpful.
So you can tune the OBD2 with the Hondata, its just alot harder?

last i heard Adrenaline didnt tune hondata systems and just sold them, but i dont ever ever ever ever ever go there so i'm not completely sure. never heard of Lowe performance, where are they at?
Correct me if i'm wrong but I beleive that S200's are only made for OBD1 cars so why not just run crome if you have to retrofit anyways?

90% of Honda drivers are ricers, 5% are idiots, 5% are tuners... 100% are broke.

You're not going to get the kind of benefits you're looking for with just "tuning." Hondata S200 is a pain in the ass if you don't know what you're doing. On top of that, since you're in the Springfield area, the places these guys are mentioning are pretty much worthless to you, and you're stuck with Tony or somewhere around KC. Tony's gotten a lot of polarized reactions....I guess he's a love/hate kinda guy (I won't go into how I feel about him).
To sum it all up, all this talk about tuning is crap, given what you do/don't have on the car. Again, your best bet is to talk to people like Blake, Scott, Bubba, and all the other people that had experiences with Preludes. Then you piece together a nice wet kit with all the nifty features (bottle heater, window switch, etc.) and run something like a 60 shot whenever you want to have some fun.

I agree with you on Adrenaline 100%. They are a certified tuner though, check Hondata's website.shinigami;40311 wrote:last i heard Adrenaline didnt tune hondata systems and just sold them, but i dont ever ever ever ever ever go there so i'm not completely sure. never heard of Lowe performance, where are they at?

Lowe Performance is in Alton, Ill. They have tuned a few members cars and everyone has had excellent results.
s200 is only for OBD1 cars, so he would have to convert back if he wanted to us it.
I personally don't like Crome. Hondata has more features and seems to be supported by tuners better. But thats just my two cents.
