Vtec?

its a 99 EX, it is a D16Y8 motor, yes it is SOHC Vtec.
If its an HX its a D16Y5 E-Vtec motor
and if its anything else (besides the SI) its a D16Y7 motor.
Thats how it is for any car 96-00

Also look on the front left side of your motor where the trannyhooks up, the engine code will be engrained into the block there.

My god, its not that complicated.
(how many honda guys does it take to distunguish an engine code???)
