H22 vs B18
forget k-series or a b-18c5 plan on spending a fortune (unless you have money to give away). H22's are crap compared to a b-series IMO and is going to weigh you down and take up an ass load of space. do a b-16 or b-18a or b. it will save you money and be your best bet. it is possible to get your stock motor running good as well, turbo it.

Well, with the K20 being an easier fit than the H22, how much easier is it? Do I have to chop anything?

There a tad bit more installing with a K-series but in the end you will see the difference. Money wise its a tad more expensive but you will see where that extra money has gone, but like they say you can build a b-series cheaper then a k-series. Just depends on what you want to do7illusion7;27039 wrote:Well, with the K20 being an easier fit than the H22, how much easier is it? Do I have to chop anything?

there is a reason you spend a lot of money on those motors, they have a lot of power stock. a stock type-r runs high 14's, that is 2 seconds quicker than a stock ls, put the c5 in a hatch and it will move. plus you have the added bonus of having one of the highest power per liter motors ever built, just for bragging rights. search hard enough and you could find one for under 4k.zrs6v4;26975 wrote:forget k-series or a b-18c5 plan on spending a fortune (unless you have money to give away). I agree and I love the k20 it is the best starting point if money isnt an option I was going to put my buddies in my crx and was only going to spend $3200 on the swap which is cheap. I then would need mounts-$700, 350 axles, wiring350 hasport, new shifter box, new header, new hood, new radiator. from what I understand without the hasport kit the wiring is a bear and the speedo doesnt work at all. that was for my crx, now I am not sure what a HB requires, but I just wanted to let you know the expense I ran across. without labor (I am no mechanic) that totalled at around $6k in parts and that a good deal on the swap mind you. I opted to run my b18a which you can pick up for around $1500 tops. with the money you'd spend on a k20 and the money you could put into the b series, I would say the b-series would end up being the best bang for the buck. As I said as far as rareness and show the K20 is cooler and has more wow. I would even look into doing a b16 g2 with the hydro tranny for around $2100 shipped. I dont know, I am just trying to help.. good luck

Any thoughts about the mini-me swap compared to the B18 or the K20? The difference in power? Qtr mile time stock in a hb?
