Granted Fram makes most oil filters for Honda, the Fram filter you get from Autozone is not the same filter you get from the dealer (At least as far as 88-00 Civics are concerned). The gasket and overall exterior design and casing are different and are not what should be used on 88-00 Civics. The gasket on the Fram filters has been know to cause leaks. Theres even a thread about it on here where a member's S2000 caught fire due to an oil leak from the filter. I don't have anything bad to say about the filtration of Fram filters. People have said that they tend to fall apart after 3,000 or so miles, but thats never been proven to my knowledge. Because of the way Fram designs they're filter's gaskets is the reason why I stay away from anything they make in general. This is why I use the OEM S2000 oil filter. Its made by Filtech Inc. and uses the exact same gasket that the OEM Civic oil filter has. Its also bigger then the normal Civic filter, which helps with filtration and oil temps.mike93hatch;148388 wrote:nothing wrong with fram. youre just one fo those people who believes everything they read on the internet.

i ALWAYS use oem filters, 1. its convenient cause of working at the dealer, 2. they just seem to be made A LOT better than all of the other filters you buy. i have only seen one gasket actually stick on and they dont crush like a tin can when you put a filter wrench on them.

yeah, filters with the rounded gaskets never stick as apposed to the ones with the flat gaskets.bildo16;148398 wrote:i ALWAYS use oem filters, 1. its convenient cause of working at the dealer, 2. they just seem to be made A LOT better than all of the other filters you buy. i have only seen one gasket actually stick on and they dont crush like a tin can when you put a filter wrench on them.
Integra:
Im running Valvoline MaxLife 5w-30 (which is a synthetic blend) with the Valvoline Filter. Filter is the same as an STP oil filter.
Civic:
Had Mobil 1 full Synthetic 5w-30 with the Mobil 1 filter.
