89 K20 CRX swap.. help me out...

I have an 89 crx with a B18A1 right now.. My friend just wrecked his 03 rsx type s with 60k on it.. well I have some money saved up to do some shit with the crx.. I had an idea to have him find out the buy back for the rsx just for the hell of it which is $4000.. the motor, tranny, ecu, and a few things like interior dash rear end, wheels tires are all in good shape.. so I am thinking of buying the car and putting the motor in my crx. Ive talked to some people and the swap is possible but hasnt been done from my knowledge. I was quoted $1500 to do the swap with parts included. I could make some money back out of the car by selling some parts and my old engine setup...

should I go for it? is $4k to much to pay for it? the swap for the jdm k20 is around 5 grand in itself so it seems like a good deal to me.. if this doesnt work out or Im talked out of it Ill probably just do the turbo setup and save a few bucks, but I thought it would be a good chance to have a rare car... give me some imput..

i say beg steel borrow and get the k20 in the crx, it will prolly be the only one in missouri. just make sure who ever does it does it right...

yea I know then I could sell my engine setup, the tailights wheels, dash, some panels and random shit off of it interior and make a lot of money back..
it would be nicer than my daily driver..hah

10 minutes of research will tell you that it HAS been done before, several times.
hasport makes the mount kit for the swap already($750 for the kit). and I believe youll need a jdm sytle hood (with the bubble in the middle) to fit the motor in the car- you can buy a c/f version to fit onto your usdm front end for about $650 from fiberimages... otherwise jdm front end conversion will run you $1500+

yea it has but still will be rare which is all I need. I found the mount kit for $650.. I have both of my cars paid off and if I end up having 5 or 6 grand in this it would be worth it..

yea I am really torn between doing this or saving 4 grand and turboing the b-series.. I am not messing around though I have the money and am ready to get this going either way..

If you know it's been done, why ask if its been done?

you quoted $5500 to get the swap done. IMO thats not a great deal, your paying $4000 for the motor, trans, ecu... a k20a2 'full swap' runs $4000 from a motor importer too, and either way you still need the wiring conversion, mounts, and custom axles. the $5000 k20a is the typeR motor, its more expensive because its better, you are paying basically fair market price for the motor you are getting.
so should you do it? sure, if you have the expendable income, go for it. but this isn't the 'deal of the century' you are getting.
and if you are looking for power, a built turbo b will throw out much more than a stock k-swap

I put, hasnt been done to my knowledge then I read up looking for mounts, I found that they made them so I realized it has. anyway, again, I am getting the entire car for $4,000 the stuff that is good is- complete swap, dash 6 disk changer, wheels new tires, suspension, brakes, full leather interior, hatch, and a bunch of other shit to ebay. I then could sell my b18a1 swap on top of all of that. Isd end up getting the motor and all the shit I need for around 2 grand at worst.. I would never just buy the swap for $4. thats a sweet car, sorry for the confusion..

oh and I wouldnt be able to use the axles out of the rsx? that may be a stupid question, but it is huge knowing how much they go for..
