idle problem

Post by Chaos »

Hi I have a 91 Civic Hatchback STD model converted with a ZC 1.6 engine
with a PM7 ECU. That engine blew up and we got another OBD0 engine and had
a friend switch it out. He could not do a 1 for 1 switch with all parts,
so not sure if he changed any wires which he may have...Does anyone have
the correct procedures on which wires had to be cut, etc... I know there is
some out there, please help

Also the Check Engine Light (CEL) is on now We have figure out hopefully
how to get the ECU codes from the ECU. It starts, but will not stay at
running till it has semi warmed up (the colder it is the longer it takes to
idle). We could not figure out what to do, so near where the gas pedal
linkage on the throttle body is, my friend adjusted this screw and now at
least it will start up, but you have to control the idle with the gas pedal
till it semi warms up then at least works. Any ideals on this.

Found at http://thezcr.com/assets/images/zcbook/1-11.jpg about how to
adjust the base idle speed does any one knows if this works. With the old
engine it would idle OK and when it was cold it would idle high then after
it warmed up it would idle back down, that no longer happens with this
engine, any ideas on that issue.

Thanks for all the help and guidance...

so youre wondering if you did the dpfi to mpfi zc conversion right?or did the zc blow up and now you have a sohc?
what rpm are you idleing at now?
what happens once its warm? does it drive normal? or is there an rpm cut out?
to check the ecu codes pull back the carpet and count the number of blinks the led gives you. if there is a break in the blinking then count again because its a different code.

like when i go to start my car in the morning i have to rev it myself to 1500....if i just let it go it will die.....after about 5 mins of me holding it to 1500 it will go back down and idle around 900.....after it warms up the car run perfect....its just when its cold...

i still got the dohc but the guy switched the old motor and put mine in, in less than like 4 hrs.....im not sure what he did or anything i didnt get to watch....the cel is on now though so i have to figure that out......could that be the idle problem?

most likely the ecu will tell you what is wrong with the idle problem. go ahead and check it then tell us what it says

a pm9 ecu is for a dpfi engine not mpfi. i would suggest getting the correct ecu and then see if it still doesnt run right.

is the PM9 hurting performance?

alright new info...

code 8 is gone now.....we took the distributor cap off and the coil wire was all messed up....so we took my old distributor off the old engine and put it on and that worked so the TDC position code is gone...

the EACV code is still there though? we took the one off the old engine that was good and it still didnt go off.....we soaked one of them in carb cleaner to clean, still didnt work.......any ideas now?

also how do i set timing for the motor?
