ZC, reliablity, and conversion to ob1 ?'s
ok i was thinking about doing this ls swap, then boosting it in my hatch. lately i have been thinking maybe i could save money buy boosting a zc, but i got an eg and dont know if i can convert it or not any help would be great. also if any one knows what kind of whp is possible for about 1500 i would like to know.

OBD0 ZC to OBD1 conversion is very possible, but the ZCs also came already with OBD1 (i have one in the shop right now) the best thing about ZCs is that all the Dseries parts work, so I know you can make well over 200 whp for under 1500 using a homemade turbo setup

ahh but why go D-series when you can do a LS stocker with homemade turbo setup and build just as much as the zc if not more. Listen your already B-series so stay, you can blow stock LS b-series all day and find another one just like it in the yard for a little over $100. You also I think might make more power with the LS then zc but don't qoute me on that and you can get anystyle B-series you want but I'd keep it LS and the homemade turbo kit will run ya about $450 to $550 in parts if you stay all homemade, now if you bring in a few other sources like putting a nicer manifold or bigger turbo then you could spend upto $1000 just in the turbo equipment and I know stolle has a B18 LS complete just missing minor parts for $125 think about it.

good point corey. do you already have a b in there? if you do you might as well just keep that, but if the B isn't in yet it still might be cheaper to switch to a ZC

cheaper? If he can snag stolles B18 or one from the yard then thats like $125 to $150, you can find the trannys on them in relitively good shape and the most for the motor and tranny is like $200. He won't have to change out the knuckles for D-series knuckles and he can get the axle shafts with the motor when he gets it. Finding a zc around here just the motor alone there gonna wanna charge $300 for it and up, tranny is gonna cost you another $125 cause D-series EX/Si cable trannys are becoming rare as fuck and Hydro ones people arnt really wanting to let go anymore, then you got axles for which ever tranny you go with and you got a choice of 23 or 27 spline or some something stupid like that. Then you got knuckles which will cost ya about $50 a piece at the junk yard, then a motor mount swap cause the d-series sits a little different.budget_crx;20063 wrote:good point corey. do you already have a b in there? if you do you might as well just keep that, but if the B isn't in yet it still might be cheaper to switch to a ZC
I really don't see cheaper in going zc, I see going zc as being a $1000 alone in swapping over to it and htne you have buying manifold, turbo "adapter plate if you don't go so far after market" feed line and return coolant lines "If the turbo is coolant cooled" and so on and so on. Not to under judge you Jake but honestly it's more to swap over to D-series then it is to get a tranny and b-series motor then start tuboing.

well i have no clue what he is starting out with, in most cases its cheaper to switch to a ZC than to do a B series swaps simply because most civics came with D series. I dont know wether he has a d series in the car right now or a b, if he has the b ( or most of the swap) already then he should stick with it. but if the car is stock, it would be worth it to stick with the Ds or a ZC

Ok so the car has a B-series in it so stick with B-series, buy stolles b-series and complete it with parts from your old motor and theres your motor. Goto the junkyard and find you a LS integra and the tranny and swap her in there, if its cable remember to get the clutch pedal and cable for the clutch and the intermidiate shaft and cv shafts. And there ya go running motor and tranny then start turboing, right there you spend at the most $270.Drowzysleeper;20067 wrote:well i have a eg hatch shell and i got a blown ls that i was going to fix and put in there, i dont have all the mounts for the ls or a shift linkage or a ecu im gonna have about 1500 for it in a few weeks, but im not really sure if i want to mess with that block
