as long as the clearances turn out fine, the acl bearings shouldn't be a problem. The honda bearings come in different clearances....which are coded by different colors. Some are thinner, some are thicker. The acl bearing tends to have the "green" color clearance. I have torqued them in my block and the clearance read just fine where its supposed to be. With the headgasket I have always just got oem...I never had tried an aftermarket. I would recommend head studs if you don't already have them on your list. And chase any torqued stud/bolt with a tap (also clean it as best you can) before you actually put the stud/bolt in there and tighten it.Drowzysleeper;13114 wrote:well im going will a piston rod bearing combo from the marketplace. for a little over 800 witch is not bad. most people i talk to recommend using oem bearing instead of acl, why is that? could it be the how the fit or the price. also the headgasket should i go oem or get a badass cosmetic one? thanks again for everyones imput.

OEM bearings FTW! That price is about the average for arp's, so def pick those upDrowzysleeper;13225 wrote:5thgen, would you recommend acl or oem? i have head bolts on my list, they are from tuners choice and are running 116+shipping, is that the best price i can get for them?

I have acl bearings for my future build. Either would be fine with me as long as the clearance is good.Drowzysleeper;13225 wrote:5thgen, would you recommend acl or oem? i have head bolts on my list, they are from tuners choice and are running 116+shipping, is that the best price i can get for them?

I got my acl bearings for $77 shipped. The honda bearings will most likely be around 150-175 for the set.
