throttle body size chart...
good chart to add:

basically, it shows the increase in airflow of each throttle body over a stock 1st gen b16a throttle body (58mm).
All throttle bodies are measured at the butterfly plate/intake manifold side.
Also note: the "Spoon 70mm" is not a typo, the 70mm measurement is taken at the tip of the intake to the throttle body. the unit tapers from 70mm down to 62 at the butterfly.

So, with that chart, if you move up to a B18C Type R TB from a B18C..you should technically see an increase of 7.8%? Anything else need to be done to see the full 7.8%(if that) increase in air flow?

Given the same air box/air intake yes, the air threw the throttle body would be 7.6% higher with the 62mm TB than with the 60mm TB. That doesn't equate to the same power though, the are quite a few more variables to take into consideration for that to happen ie. intake mani, cams, and runners in the head to name a few.ObsesionWitSped;89279 wrote:So, with that chart, if you move up to a B18C Type R TB from a B18C..you should technically see an increase of 7.8%? port to match.. theres going to be a lip where the t/b mounts to the intake manifold.. so id recommend belling the entrance on the intake out

can you go to big of a throttle body...for example if you have an itr (62mm) would 70 be to big if you did get new mani and stage 2 cams??? and would it be worth it at all? i know you would need to port match aswell...

absolutely you can go too big. with just a manifold and "stage 2 cam" (which could still mean ANYTHING since every manufacturer is different) I probably wouldn't consider going anywhere over a 68 (for a b-series)...and I would think a 65 would probably work just fine. it all depends on WHERE you want to make your power, and how high you are comfortable revving the motor.HondasX2;101128 wrote:can you go to big of a throttle body...for example if you have an itr (62mm) would 70 be to big if you did get new mani and stage 2 cams??? and would it be worth it at all? i know you would need to port match aswell...

Well I was planning on the red line being right around 9...and I have the skunk 2 stage 2's but wat would be the pros and cons between the 65 and the 68wanna make...the cams power comes into play at high rpms...I mean I would really like to have the power in the mid to high range because obviously low range does not want to give me any tractionSpork;101133 wrote:absolutely you can go too big. with just a manifold and "stage 2 cam" (which could still mean ANYTHING since every manufacturer is different) I probably wouldn't consider going anywhere over a 68 (for a b-series)...and I would think a 65 would probably work just fine. it all depends on WHERE you want to make your power, and how high you are comfortable revving the motor.
