all speeds/shift points are relatively close to each other, with the ls being as short as a b16 tranny based on mph/gear. I have a gsr tranny on my ls, and wouldn't hesitate on putting a ls tranny back in.

then why wouldn't they just save costs and use the same b series tranny with every b series motor? The redline doesn't have anything to do with the tranny...yes that may be true. But the gearing of the tranny has everything to do with the redline.

On what turbo?....15g? sc61? Base it on power rather than a pressure level. A bone stock motor can handle more boost than that, let alone stock sleeves.

The MPH would totally matter on the point in which this person will be reving the B18B too. You have listed the MPH verus two seperate RPM areas. When I had my JDM '96 spec ITR transmission go I replaced it with the USDM '00 Si transmission since the gear ratio would help the B18C spin up quicker. Also the had a wider final drive over the JDM ITR. This allowed for the setup to gain higher speeds in 4th and 5th gears.

Gearing has everything to do with performance of the motor and speeds in each gear. In IMSA Formula BMW we don't change gears because we are adjusting redline LOL... We change the gears for use of power, speeds on the entire track, and the ability to maximize everygear possible.

Power has nothing to do with the turbo in paticular. It is all about the amount of CFM's that each individual turbo component can perform. I mean the next thing you are going to tell me that a turbo is spoiled up by exhaust air flow and not exhaust pulses lol...

Ok, I'm thinking of selling the JE 10.5:1 CP and stock rods. There's no way in He** I'll get no detonation when I travel different altitudes on boost. Getting some sort of aftermaket rods(eagles, ross, ...) and some sort of turbo pistons(JE,arias) just a goal for the future. And maybe sc61 or 60-1 turbo, I'm doing this to keep my IAT's down; and I'm shooting for 400-450WHP on stock sleeves.
thanks

I have it seperated in relation to ls motor/ls tranny vs. b16 motor/b16 tranny, etc. All near factory redline.

hence why I put factory redline of each motor against their own gearbox.

That really contradicts itself.

Do you have a turbo ls?

Actually I have built several for clients and and one friend. Most people are not really using the base B18B long block these days. That is the only reason this thread caught my eye. Everyone these days are just doing B18C with larger turbo for use of the CFMs even though the B Series head flow like god crap stock compared to the designs of the F or K Series of today standards. So a nice manifold, big turbo, some sort of chipping ECU progam and bam 300whp. No big news. I mean I'm not really sure why even ask on here about what they should do. Go to H-T and type in for example "Turbo B18B" You'll see many different ways and ideas of what to do and the power #'s from easch setup. I love Hondas and that is why I joined this site. I haven't owned one in awhile, but really miss my old street setup from 2000.... honda are made for NA and NA only in my eyes... You don't see turbos on Honda in F1 anymore lol
