idle pulsating problem after motor swap

Post by 97slvrhatch »

does anybody know if a 92-95 ex iacv would work on the 96-98 ex manifold because there are a bunch of those on ebay for cheap and there is only automatic ones for the 96-98 manifold.

The only IACV's I know work on there for sure are '96-'00 Civic EX and HX, '99-'00 Civic Si, '96-'97 del Sol Si, and '96 del Sol VTEC. Of course, the IACV must be from a manual transmission vehicle.

idle pulsating problem after motor swap

I finished wiring everthing up and here is the codes it is throwing
p1298 electrical load detector
both o2 sensors
p0450 evaporative emission system pressure sensor switch

the o2 sensor doesnt make sense because the code wasnt being thrown before the swap. the evap switch doesnt make sense either because i swaped the ground wire to the ecu and the ecu wire to the ground and then it through two codes for the switch. so then i swapped it back and it only throws the one that i posted above. i used 22 guage copper wire from radio shack and i used the old pins from a different plug. i also dont know what could be throwing the electrical load code. any help would great. thanks.

I found a TSB about this issue. See if the harness is damaged as explained below.

that makes sense because the vehicle speed sensor is beeing thrown also i just didnt say anything because i just thought it was the sensor. so that will fix all those codes exept the vtec? so what do i do about the vtec?

Most likely, yes.

You never mentioned anything about VTEC DTC's. Did you follow the wiring instructions that I posted at the top of this page?

sorry but the vtec cels arent popping up. i assumed that the p0450 and p0453 codes where for the vtec pressure switch but its not. i did some research on these codes and its from a sensor in the gas tank that the ex has and the cx doesnt. a couple of ways i found to fix it was a new ecu but idk which one i could run that would still work with vtec and not look for the sensor. there also is supposed to be a way to trick it with a part from radio shack but i havent came across and good diagrams or good directions on how to do that.

Yeah, that's pretty common with these swaps. Here's how to fix it. I would suggest fixing the other items mentioned above before going about this.
