obd-0 to obd-1 b swap ef wiring problem

Post by Clayton »

here is the low down please ask any questions

1990 civic ef dpfi stripped drag car

swapping in a ls obd-2 b series

the old dpfi harness was trashed to shit so i replaced it with a virgin dpfi engine harness

i have a boomslang obd-0 to obd-1 harness and have wired in the two connectors to the distributor, oxysen sensor and the fuel injectors.

i have a obd1 distributor and have wired in plugs accordingly.

i have high impedance stock d series injectors so i did not need a resistor box and wired in accordingly.

when the key turns on the main relay kicks the pump on and i have fuel pressure.

car is in time.

newer spark plugs and wires tried with all differnt sorts but there is nothing

the main problem i am having is the distributor does not have spark. when the distributor is taken out of its intended spot and grounded while turning it by hand the injectors rack but there is no spark.

- i have tried 4 diferent distributors all with the same effect
- i have tried 3 diferent ecu's

cannot check codes as there is no dash harness to go from the fuse box to the cluster as of yet may need to go steal one from the junk yard.

if you are a wiz with mp swaps hit me i can tow it to you or you can come to me either way im not a man of many fortunes but we can discuss reimbersment if it comes to it lmk.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isnt the DPFI obd0 - obd1 different than the mpfi obd0 - obd1 adapter harness? Do you have the correct one?

you are correct sir even if its converted its actually easier to take a virgin dpfi setup straight to obd1 mpfi than it is to convert to mpfi then to obd1, cleaner too, i have done it. ill give you a hand if you like, that is if you can bring the car to my house.

yep positive i got the right one the mpfi has only the 4 pin connector the dpfi has the 4 pin and an 8 pin

ok new problem

car starts up idles pretty good

hit the gas stumbles like crazy. least of my worries at the moment.

cluster with it all hooked up and the key turned to the on position check engine light (cel) comes on. the cel blinks 5 times then stays solid. jump the blue two pin jumper with green and brown wires to make the cluster cel flash but it does not. tried different ecu same thing. brown wire from #20 pin spot straight to ground yields same results i don't know whats going on. any ideas?
