What part of the car did you use to ground the plugs?

ok. I changed the ghetto wiring harness and dizzy, and it tries to start but doesnt.

Spark plugs: come pre-gaped correct? This is what my buddy told, so Im just checking.
Timing: Would changing the distributor throw off ignition timing? Is there anything else I need to do, like line up the rotor with a certain side of the dizzy, or anything like that? or was that simply a bolt on and drive away change?

car will not start at all. I got it to fire for maybe 3 seconds, but thats it.

would anyone wanna come help me out with this lol?
